Classical texts can be daunting and most actors - even well-trained, working actors - shy away from them, convinced that “Shakespeare and co” are not within their reach.

Our Conservatoire training is devised to equip actors with a thorough grounding in the context of classical plays (mainly, but not exclusively, Shakespeare and the Renaissance period), the specificity of their language and themes, and the acting skills needed to tackle them with confidence and enjoyment.

We offer training at all levels and everyone above 16 is welcome to apply. Recruitment to the most advanced courses is through audition but the beginners course is open to all.

Courses run for eight weeks with a two-hour weekly session.

The classes are taught by professional actors or directors, in a friendly and supportive environment. We have a maximum of twelve participants per class, so tutors have time to give participants individual feedback and monitor their progress.
